Queen Studios' 2022 Movie Discussion

Movie Discussion 2022

Queen Studios has already made some impressive pre-order announcements so far in 2022. Our team are constantly looking for movies, comics and tv shows to draw inspiration from, and its looking like they’ll be some interesting releases this year. We’ve already got some ideas for the year to come, however there is always room for improvement. We’ve put together some of our teams’ favourites, but what characters from 2022 would you guys like to see turned into a Queen Studios collectable?

Morbius

One of the most fascinating and conflicted creatures in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Jared Leto transforms into the antihero Michael Morbius.

Fallen ill to a rare blood illness and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is released. Will good override evil, or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges? Check out the Morbius trailer above. This one is certainly one the entire Queen Studios team is looking forward to. Another great example of a great actor taking on a great character.

Black Adam

Black Adam is an upcoming DCU movie following the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo., and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is intended to be a spin-off from Shazam! (2019).

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, the film stars Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. Not too much is known yet, however we do know the film is set nearly 5,000 years after Black Adam was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Queen Studios think this one is going to be one of DCU’s best releases of 2022, we were blown away by 2019’s Shazam and think a spin off starring The Rock can only add to the awesomeness of the current franchise. If you saw the 2022 Product Launch on YouTube, then you'll know that we have a Black Adam on Throne statue on the way later this year!

Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse

Probably the most anticipated sequel of 2022 is Sony’s Spider-man Across the Spider-Verse. The first instalment of this series was a real eye-opener to what can be achieved through animation and CGI. It even helped inspire our artist in early 2021 with our Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Verse 1/4 statue, you can see here. Miles Morales returns for the sequel of the Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport New York’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever faced. You can check out the first look at the new Spider-Verse animation above.

The Flash

We thought we’d mention The Flash, as he’s a character who hasn’t received much attention as of recently on our blog. He’s also a character we’ve never recreated.

What do you guys’ thing about The Flash? Is he a Character you’d like in your collection? The film is directed by Andy Muschietti and the screenplay is written by Christina Hodson and the story from Hodson, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein. We don’t know much yet, but we do know the story follows Barry Allen (The Flash) travels back in time to prevent his mother's murder, which brings unintentional consequences to his timeline. The recent news around this movie could mean delays, but we're hoping this one does get made!

Shazam Fury of the Gods

Our final movie of the year that we’re most looking forward to is the sequel to (Add year)’s Shazam! This one really struck a chord with the Queen Studios’ team, just the right amount of comedy, the right amount of action and a perfect amount of believability. We hope that this sequel honours the original material as much as its first instalment.

All we know so far is that the movie is it’s a sequel, it’s directed by David F. Sandberg and it’s heading for the screen in December 2022. We’re all anxiously waiting for the trailer to drop at the Queen Studios’ office and hope the release won’t be delayed into 2023. Although not much is know about the new Shazam, DC released a behind the scenes speacial at their 2021 DC Fandome. Be sure to check it out above.

Final Thoughts

2022 is shaping up to be another great year for the collecatble community, we'll be seeing an array of new characters never seen before on the screen. And although we've not included some of 2022's upcoming blockbuster (there's just way to many), we hope we'll get the chance to work with some of this years new aditions to our favourite comic book movie universes.

I was very impressed by Queen Studios quality for the Batman action figure photo I saw of Bruce Wayne’s suit. I think Queen Studios should concentrate on beloved retro characters. Many of us would like to see 1968 Yvonne Craig Batgirl, 1966 Julie Newmar Catwoman, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, Irish McCalla from the 1955 Sheena, Queen of the Jungle TV show, Van Williams as the Green Hornet and Bruce Lee as Kato, George Reeves as Superman. Believe me there’s a big demand for them.
